Terracotta Daughters Exhibition. Shanghai, September 2013.
I visited this touching exhibition in September at Magda Danysz Gallery. There’s this French artist, Prune Nourry, who had a great insight and created the “Terracotta Daughters” as 108 life size sculptures symbolizing China’s unborn daughters and gender discrimination, along with the myth of the perfect child. She collaborated with Chinese artisans and created the sculptures the way the Terracotta Warriors were once molded. An alien with a beautiful reinterpretation of a Chinese emblem.
The exhibition is still open at MD Gallery (188 Linqing Lu) until October 26th.
